Presented by the Motheral family in honor of jazz great, Tony Campise. This night promises to be one not to miss with the lively jazz music of multiple musicians!
As Ed Sullivan would say “This is going to be…. a really big sheow!”. The stage will be filled with more than 10 big name performers including Kris Kimura and Wasabi Big Band featuring Jennifer Johnson with special guest stars Carol Morgan and Freddie Mendoza. Whether it’s hot jazz from the “Roaring 20’s” , swing hits from the 1930’s and 1940’s, or the “Rat Pack” parties of the 50’s and 60’s this group of jazz greats will impress you with its high energy and finesse.
Kris Kimura is an award winning vocalist and woodwind specialist based in the “Live Music Capital of the World”. For almost two decades, Kris has performed with many of Austin’s best bands including Ghandaia, Grupo Fantasma, Dario y su Comborican, Mr. Fabulous, Rotel & the Hot Tomatoes, the Pictures, Boombox, Monster Big Band, and MANY others. Kris has also shared the stage with many national and international artists including Michael Feinstein, Johnny Mathis, George Duke, Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, Doug Lawrence, Marcus Printup, the Temptations, the O’Jays, the Buckinghams, Arthur Latin, Butch Miles, Ignacio Berroa, Ndugu Chancler, and many others. In addition to a very busy career as a sideman in various projects, Kimura has led his own bands – The Kris Kimura Quartet/Quintet, the Kris Kimura Jazz Orchestra, the Wasabi Big Band, and the Wasabi Grandé Big Big Band.

Carol Morgan is a jazz trumpeter, composer, educator and author who resides in NYC. Originally from Texas, she is a Juilliard graduate who has worked with many remarkable teachers including Chris Gekker, Mark Gould, Ingrid Jensen, and Dennis Dotson.

Freddie Mendoza, Trombonist/Euphoniumist, has distinguished himself as one of the leading instrumentalists and educators on the jazz scene today. He has performed across the United States and abroad, playing music ranging from the big band style of the 1940’s to hot Latin jazz, sharing the stage with many of jazz music’s greats, including Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Marcus Printup, Marvin Stamm, Clark Terry, Bill Watrous, Rob McConnell, Bob Mintzer and Harry Connick, Jr. to name a few.
