The Spicewood Arts Society was organized in 2000 and since that time, has sponsored 5-6 performances each year. In 2008 we expanded the performance program to include 2 summer programs in addtion to the regular season.
In 2007 we contributed funds to the Spicewood Elementary School to publish an art book to which every class contributed either written or graphic original works. These will be available for sale at our events to help support the arts program at the school.
Our goals for 2008-2009 include the continued support of art programs at Spicewood Elementary School as well as other Community Outreach opportunities. Colleen Mallette (High C Diva) will be presenting a musical program at the school on Friday, May 15, 2009. One of the original goals of SAS was to eventually develop a facility that would support the arts community. We have now begun the process of setting requirements for land and building that will bring this goal to fruition. While it is early in the planning process, we are excited about the opportunities presented and humbled by the magnitude of the task, including substantial fund raising that will be required to bring the community a facility that can support a range of art-related activities.
