Introduction to the Arts Round-up 2008

The Sixth Arts Round-up will feature excellent hill country artists. We will consider work in any 2D or 3D media, including wood, metal, pottery, paintings with oil, pastels and watercolors, etc., photography, pen & ink drawings, colored pencil drawing, jewelry, sculpture, and glass, etc.

The Arts Festival

The Arts Roundup returns for its Sixth season! This is the premiere art event in the Spicewood area, just 28 miles west of Austin. Artists display their works in their own tents or in one of 16 horse stables on the grounds of the old Paleface Ranch. The ranch style setting in an oak grove just off State Highway 71 serves as a rustic, relaxing site perfect for an art show. The stable area is arranged in an L-shaped configuration and includes covered walkways providing plenty of shade and protection from the weather. Each of the stalls or tent sites measures at least 10' x 10'.

Guests are admitted free, but donations to the society are encouraged in an effort to further our mission of bringing the arts to the Spicewood area. We hope that providing a high quality of art in this manner will inspire the widest possible community participation. Spicewood is a growing area with a very attractive demographic profile and one we believe is capable of supporting and sustaining a vibrant arts community.

Several musical groups will provide entertainment. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be a food for sale on site.

About Spicewood Arts Society

Founded in 2000, the Spicewood Arts Society (www.SpicewoodArts.org) is a not-for profit organization open to anyone with an interest in the musical, visual or literary arts.
The mission of the Spicewood Arts Society is to promote the performing, visual and literary arts in the Spicewood community. Activities supporting this mission include:
  • Six live musical performances will be held this year as they have for several years. These have included an eclectic mix of jazz, musical comedy, classical, swing, and South American music performances.
  • This is the sixth year for the Arts Round-up, featuring regional fine artists. The goals for the Arts Roundup are:
    • to provide the Spicewood community with an opportunity to view fine visual art, and communicate with the artists
    • to provide area fine artists the opportunity to show and sell their work
    • to raise funds to support the mission of the Spicewood Arts Society
  • New programs in the Marble Falls School District to promote art education.
